Monkey Jobi had always been known in the forest as the cheerful troublemaker—swinging from vines, stealing bananas from inattentive parrots, and playing endless pranks on his friends. But among all the animals, there was one he cared for the most: a tiny, floppy-eared puppy named Milo. Milo was the newest member of the forest family, abandoned near the riverbank before Jobi found him trembling and alone. From that day on, Jobi took it upon himself to be Milo’s big brother.
Milo adored Jobi, following him everywhere on his little paws. But recently, Jobi noticed that the puppy seemed sad. Milo missed having a warm, cozy place like the homes humans had. Each night, he curled up beside a tree root, trying to stay comfortable, and Jobi’s heart ached watching him struggle to sleep.
So Jobi decided he would do something special—something no one expected from the mischievous monkey. Secretly, while Milo napped and the forest animals went about their day, Jobi began gathering materials. He collected soft leaves, smooth sticks, and even fuzzy moss from the high branches where only he could climb. Every day, he hid the growing pile behind a large bush, working in silence.
He even asked the birds for colorful feathers, promising not to pull any this time. The squirrels contributed tiny nuts and berries for decorations, and the beavers helped shape the wooden pieces. Everyone was curious, but Jobi refused to reveal anything until it was ready.
Finally, after days of careful work, Jobi finished the surprise—a beautifully crafted little puppy hut. It had a leafy roof, a nest-like bed of warm moss, and a doorway decorated with bright feathers. It wasn’t just a shelter; it was a home made with love.
That evening, Jobi led Milo to the secret spot. “Close your eyes!” he squeaked excitedly. When Milo opened them, his tail immediately began wagging—fast, then faster, until it blurred. He ran inside, sniffing everything, pawing the moss, rolling on his back in pure joy.
Jobi giggled, feeling his chest warm. Milo rushed out and jumped into Jobi’s arms, covering him with happy licks. The forest animals watched from afar, their hearts melting at the scene.
For once, the mischievous monkey wasn’t making trouble. He was making love visible.
